Explore Memphis

Memphis is the home of Smart Rivers 2025 because of its unique position in the Mississippi River watershed and because of its robust culture and countless amenities for visitors. From exploring the “birthplace of rock’n’roll” through tours of Graceland and local music studios to glimpsing into our nation’s history at the National Civil Rights Museum – and capping it all off with some Memphis-style barbeque – this city offers something for everyone.

Graceland

The famed estate of Elvis Presley, Graceland is so much more than a museum. Visitors can learn about Elvis’ life and career, tour his airplane collection, and step inside his private life with an interactive tour of the Graceland Mansion.

National Civil Rights Museum™

One of the nation’s premier museums, its interactive exhibits and historic collections support its mission to share the culture and lessons from the American Civil Rights Movement and explore how it continues to impact our lives today.

Sun Studio

Known as “The Birthplace of Rock’n’roll,” a look inside Sun Studio offers a look into the lives of Blues and Rock’n’roll legends such as Elvis, B.B. King, Howlin’ Wolf, Ike Turner, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Roy Orbison.

Beale Street

A trip to Memphis wouldn’t be complete without a walk down Beale Street, “America’s most iconic street.” Tour Beale Street’s brass notes and don’t miss its fine foods, good drinks, live music, and plenty of shopping.
